I am looking to thru hike the AT when I gather the gear. If you are willing to donate or sell any gear you may have just laying around for cheap, please let me know. I appreciate any generosity.

Sometimes you can get good deals on E bay.
Also this Yahoo (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BackpackGearSwap/) forum for people selling gear.
Maybe list too what you are looking for. I can tell you, the alcohol stove you can make. You can get a grease pot cheap at K Mart. Campmor (http://www.campmor.com)has gear deals.

Where in Vermont are you from? I moved to RI from Brattleboro. I have done some trail work up by statton mt. Its nice to see some fellow Christian Vermonters. God Bless.

If you don't find anything on the selling used gear forum, I would definitely suggest Ebay. You can get some excellent deals there if you search around.

Have you hiked before?
What exactly are you looking for?
At the risk of sound like an a**, as a section hiker who made poor choices in gear at the start up and learned a little from it. Hiking aint just gathering gear. That's the hard way.
I commend your desire to thru but make as smart a choice as you can afford. The AT aint the congo but you do depend on yourself and gear out there, at least for 3 days at a stretch.
