I work in a prison, and one of the foods inmates make is called a chi chi. It's pretty simple to make.

1 pack Ramen
1 Slim Jim or beef jerky (preferably Slim Jim)
1 handfull of Cheezits, cheese curls, Doritos (any junkfood with cheese)
Mix it all together.

To me, it sounds repulsive, but they love it. Maybe one of you will too.

First time I took my son car camping, we were a little green.
We tried to catch our supper in the local stream but failed.

I had stopped and got him a happy meal on the drive up and he had left over chicken nuggets that we mixed with ramen and a can of corn that we called hobo stew. We make it once in a while now that he is older just to remember.

I like the jerky idea though. :clap

Perhaps this thread should have been called "hiker minnestrone." The point being that at some point you combine all/many portions of whatever you have left in your food bag. I can recall a few humorous examples from Bryson's outing.

When I was 12 on a scout trip I was unable to get a fire going for hot water for my ramen. I used the crunchy noodles with some jerky, pickles and ketchup. Not a great meal, but kept me from going hungry.

This Chi-Chi you describe doesn't sound too different (nutritionally) from some of the stuff thats already out there: Hamburger Helper type stuff. Tasty, but not the best for ya. (Typed as I munch on some leftover pizza):banana

Hello, just browsing the forums looking for trail recipes and I came across this. Ive gotta add my input

I eat this stuff all the time, Ive never heard it called chi chi tho...

here is how I prepare it.

Boil one pack of Ramen Noodles in water dont add flavor packet
when done, drain well
add a tbsp or 2 of mayo
add flavor packet, suit to taste
add one can of tuna
mix well

eat and enjoy

I usually eat this with saltines and lousianna hot sauce excellent stuff and very filling

if your eating it on cracker I suggest breaking the noodles up before boiling as its easier to scoop on the cracker

You can also substitute your favorite items in place of the tuna, shrimp, clams, oysters, roast beef, peas, baby veggies, etc

I just saw some new Pringles advertised, "Pringles Select". They come in a bag and the four flavors I saw listed are; Sun Dried Tomato, Szechuan Barbeque (rice based chip), Cinnamon Sweet Potato (sweet potato based, natch), and Parmesan Garlic.

The mind boggles...

They also have other skills as well: Making ornamental shanks out of toothbrushes, using a waist chain to strangle others, toilet bowl wine making, anal rape blackout techniques, the many uses of fecus ... the list goes on LOL.
