After last years drought, I been wondering about how to collect low laying water. I picked up some flexible PVC piping and some food grade tubing. Thinking I can probe the PVC into hillside to collect water. It kind of works, I just have to file and shape the PVC to where it collects water properly.

I also been checking around to see what I can do in making a small, flexible pump for water.

I checked around my hardware stores for the old plastic kerosene siphon pumps but they only carry the bulky battery powered ones for some reason.

Is there any info on building a homemade pump? Or is it worth building?

It might be tough to build one lighter than a commercial model but if you want an idea for pumps, check out Wal-Mart for the ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise pumps they carry.

There is some info about pump mods in the Complete Walker 4 book.

Take a pump off of a used bottle of hand soap. Same basic design, rugged and free! :-?
