I just stumbled upon Nimblewill Nomad's Oddyssey 2008 (http://www.nimblewillnomad.com/odyssey_2008.htm), the PCT. He's starting around April 21st. Hopefully I, and others hiking this year, will meet this guy. He seems like a pretty interesting guy if his books are any indication, and he should have many a great story to tell regarding the massive number of unique and LONG LONG hikes he's done. This should be fun!

Nimblewill will be turning 70 on the trail, that's pretty impressive. I hope I'm still hiking long distance at that age, should I live so long.

Had a little health set-back a month or so ago. Danced with the devil in the pale moonlight but lived to talk about it.

Well, that was just adoreable and heart-melting! What a cute, wonderful old guy. Really hope I meet him out there. Thanks for making my day, Sly (and Nimblewill!).

Cool. Hope to meet him in a couple weeks. Got my flight! I'm hiking SOBO from Scissors Crossing with Nafta and Teatree (and maybe Warner Springs Monty) on April 22nd, back to the kickoff.

Maybe I'll run into some of you guys. Look for the band of out of shape has-beens handing out beer. :)

I should be just passed Scissors Crossing by then but maybe I'll see you.

You probably run into Teatree and Nafta tho, they're starting at WS on April 20th. If you decide to go into Julian that tuesday we'll be there early-mid afternoon tippin' a couple back and having that Julian famous pie:)

Regardless, I'll probably see you at the KO

We'll see how it goes. I made a rez at Warner Springs for Wed night and someone is picking me up Thurs. for a ride back to the KO. That's 110 miles the 1st week and I'm not in the best of shape. I'm already thinking about road walking from Campo (Rt 94) to Lake Moreno! (save 12 miles) :D

if y'all bump into him, tell his hiking partner (Sheltowee) that Creepy Uncle says hello.

4/23 evening. Yogi supposed to pick me up Thursday morning to give me a ride back to the KO. She's doing some trail magic with Meadow Ed for a few days before.

Man..there is going to be quite a few WBers at the KO.

Look for the shortish guy who looks like central castings idea of a longshoreman....

Met Nimblewill on trail just south of Kitchen Creek Road on Thursday. He was hiking with Sheltowee and Slider? They seemed to be in good spirits and NN was recording the names of all of the hikers he met with a tape recorder, though I believe he recorded mine as "Freightrain" :)

His RV support was waiting at the road with cold Gatorades. Great way to hike!

One interesting note. Nimblewill was not wearing a hat or any type of head covering. Very rare in the hot desert sun.
