For those of you about to set out or just getting to Roan, there is a newly open relocation north of US 19E. This relocation is finally complete after a couple years of work with the help of the ASU Trail Crew, Watauga College, other student organizations.
The AT aFter crossing Bear Branch Bridge will turn left now. This relocation is a bit more friendly in grade with the help of switchbacks and hillside trail. It will also help in taking hikers further up and away from views of trash along the creek into Bishop Hollow.
Dorothy, Loofy, Hodown, and Tupperware volunteered a day off trail and were the first hikers to travel the new section of trail.
