When growing a beard is there any way to cut down or get rid of the itchiness or do you just have to man up and deal with it until it passes?

My neck itches and typically I just deal with it. Although Ive had luck with slamming my finger in a door and forgetting about it. Although I doubt I'll ever try to recreate this. Mostly you just have to manup.

It'll pass pretty soon. Not much else you can do.

I shaved every day and didn't have to worry about an itch.

you can put moisurizer or aftershave gels on the hair as it grows to soften the hair and therefore a little less itch......but not much
You'll do anything to piss MS off.

My itchy phase only happens when it gets to about 3" long, so I just don't worry about it most years

As a guy who has had a beard in some form or another for the last decade and a half and long hair (unless I shaved it to hike) for the last 20 years, the answer is conditioner. White Rain or store brand, usually $.99 a bottle. I'd advise against coconut or apple or whatever fruit flavor. Not because or bears, but because of the smell of your own mustache. That assumes you aren't going for the Amish look.
Or just man up and deal with it.
