Here is my Gatewood in hooped mode and in conventional mode with the Spitfire Solo inner attached under. Last one is Gatewood thrown over Spifire on it's originally frame. Even made a stove to go with the setup :-)

Neat. What kind of tent pole is that and how did you rig it up?

I've got the SMD Wild Oasis (Pretty much the Gatewood Cape without the hood). Was wondering if the "hoop" would work and how do you secure it/keep it from sliding from side to side (other then pressure from the tent fabric). Don't like the idea of carrying a special pole which takes away from it's simplicity, but I like the idea of the extra support and room provided by the hoop.

The 9' pole is secured in one of the eyes for the harnesh and a tentpole cup in each side via a guyline on the ground.
I don't like the idea of have to carry "trekking-poles" as I surely would get hurt on such a pair of stickers. Still got my legs :-)
