The AMC in the Berkshires of MA runs a stellar program each summer that gets teenagers out working on the AT on one and two week spike crews. The participants are awarded 40 community service hours (some high schools now require such hours for graduation), they learn great outdoors skills, and become part of the next generation of AT stewards. If you are, or anyone you know might be, interested in this opportunity go to www.outdoors.org/volunteer (http://www.outdoors.org/volunteer), and under "volunteer crews" click on "schedule" and choose a program.
