Does anyone use something like this under their inflatable?

Just a cheap closed cell foam pad.. I was thinking about rolling it under my thermarest so a rock or something doesn't pop my thermarest.

I use one under my insul-mat in the winter. A patch kit is lighter to carry than another pad.

I do keep about a 12-16 section that I leave strapped to the top of my pack to sit on.

Just look carefully and/or use a piece of tyvek if you are worried.

I put my Z Lite pad on top of my Big Agnes "insulated" (NOT) air core mat. Very comfy. I know, that's not what other people do, but then again I don't really care what other people do. This works for me. :D

With the Big Agnes Dual Core (0* insulation rating) air mattress, I have no need for a second insulating pad. It probably weighs less than a two-pad combination, and definitely takes up less room! ;)

Several have posted here that the CCF pad on top is warmer than the reverse, I don't know.

One guy suggested placing a CCF pad under his solo shelter, doing double duty to protect the floor and pad and insulate, then using his prolite pad inside the shelter.

I am in the process of purchasing a Big Agnes Clearview, it is rated to 35F so I will put my Z-lite under it in cold temos and that will help.

I used a cheap $5 walmart ccp underneath my big agnus dual core 15 deg pad with good results when the temp dropped.

If you really wanted to put a ccf pad under your inflatable, you could use something like this:

Used under a non-insulated pad it would protect the pad from punctures. If the weather got a little cool you could put it on top for more insulation. That's what I do when I'm not hammocking (rarely, only when sharing a shelter with others).

I put a CCF pad under my inflatable for winter camping not hiking.
