Detour posted around a closed bridge in Rausch Gap - this is in SGL 211 between PA 325 and PA 443 - or more closely, between the shelter and the old railroad bed - see http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34748

pretty good now, but with the rains coming, it will be a little bit of a mess walking some sections where the water will stand in the trails. However, unless its constant rain, I would still be out there getting on it.

Plenty of water, plenty of rocks, plenty of winged sets of blood sucking jaws. Bring your headnet, bug dope, or whatever you prefer.

This is the best time to hike in Pa. The water situation will only get weirder as the weather warms up. BTW, don't go to the Worthington's Deli & Bakery at Culver's Gap. The guy there isn't keen on hikers.

A couple of weeks ago, a hiker and his friend rolled in there about noon after walking all morning in 50 degrees and rain. Before they could reach the counter, the guy came out and surmised that they had backpacks and before they could say "hello" the gentleman advised them that they had to move their packs around the side of the building. Not very nice. My hiker friend and his friend lifter their packs again, but moved on to spend their money at another establishment. Definitely not hiker friendly or interested in doing business with hikers. Just a factual account of what happened, FWIW.

The Appalachian Pages lists this business as not wanting to be listed in the Appalachian Pages, which is a bit of a baiting entry. Perhaps all hikers who pass through there should stop in? ;-)
