Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2007 and 2008 Hubba Hubba tents? I can't seem to find an article about the change. I do see that a few retailors are deeply discounting the 2007's and there is a footprint out there just for the 2008. Why?:-?

Any reason not to go with a 2007?

Thanks

I have the 07' and there is no difference except for the color change and a bit of ventilation additions. The HH HP version for $450 is about 4 oz. lighter. Not worth the money IMO.

I have had my HH for 2 years and have had no complaints whatsoever. It's been through all the seasons and conditions, and have not had any failures in workmanship or product quality.

As far as the footprint, I use a piece of Tyvek. I think it works better, packs lighter, and much cheaper than the manufacturers product.

For 2008 MSR introduced the HP version of the Hubba Hubba and slightly reworked the "regular" Hubba Hubba. Both versions are a bit lighter than the 2007 Hubba Hubba. The '08 HP Hubba Hubba has a mostly fabric body instead of a mostly mesh body. This makes it better if you are dealing with strong winds or blowing snow or blowing sand. More fabric, less weight. Oddly, the fabric is lighter than the mesh. Also, the fly material is lighter. The "regular" 2008 Hubba Hubba is lighter than the 2007 version. The rain fly is now yellow (on both versions) and this is probably a lighter fabric.
Not sure what is the difference with the new footprint, tomorrow at work I'll check the Cascade Designs book for the full details.

All that being said, the Hubba Hubba or the Hubba are probably the best tent you can buy from one of the big manufacturers.

We have the hubba hubba and the hubba. I used the hubba on my recent section hike and did notice the hub pole system was slightly different on mine--'07 model--than others. It made absolutely no difference. My husband tends to think that the '07 model we have 'appears' to be more in height than the '08. I don't know, but it does have that appearance. My hubba is an AWESOME tent and I would not give it or the hubba hubba up for any reason. MSR makes some good stuff!!!
