:-?What companies or individuals make these? I know I can buy kits to sew my own but I would like one rated around 32 degrees already made and that I will not have to rob Ft. Knox to purchase. Any suggestions?

By "robbing Ft. Knox" do you mean paying an American an appropriate wage for producing a product for you?

I can't seem to find it at that price - can you point to some sources at that price?

I have a Jacks R Better with the down to earth converter which makes it a sleeping bag. I is very warm on the ground when made a sleeping bag. I think I could be good to 20 degrees with it. In the hammock it is good to about 30.

Go to http://www.basegear.com/coupon-codes...-basegear.html (http://www.basegear.com/coupon-codes-promotions-basegear.html)

Click the red 20% coupon and then here's the product page:

http://www.basegear.com/golite-ultra...eping-bag.html (http://www.basegear.com/golite-ultra-20-sleeping-bag.html)

or use coupon code mayday here (long only in stock right now):

http://campsaver.com/ItemMatrix.asp?...5&MatrixType=1 (http://campsaver.com/ItemMatrix.asp?GroupCode=gol0055&MatrixType=1)

Free shipping from either store, I got one a few weeks back and plan on using it on my CDT thru-hike this summer. I would say it is more of a 30* degree quilt from looking at it and reading about it, but I have no in field use yet.

Sometimes the consumer needs to be reminded of the moral implications of his choices. I lived in PA in the eighties for a while when all the milltowns were drying up.

Hey, Rowdy!

Here's a good link to American made backpacking quilts with synthetic insulation:

http://www.fanaticfringe.com/page6.html

There was a review at www.backpackinglight.com (http://www.backpackinglight.com) on them.

No problem. I think a quilt is excellent for a Hennessy Hammock with an underquilt, though I don't use that setup. It's somewhat difficult to get into a sleeping bag when in a hammock.
