My husband plans on leaving the trail in Monson Maine. He wants to hike the 100 mile wilderness with me. Any idea if we can leave the car at the trail head or anywhere else in Monson? Trying to tap into your knowledge.

Shaws or you can leave your car at the trailhead, there should be plenty of parking. I don't know if it's "safe" to park at the trailhead, but I've left a car there twice for over a week and it's been OK.

Don't ask for Keith as he sold Shaw's LOL. I think the new owner is Dawn or Connie, I get them mixed up-regardless ask at Shaw's.

Shaws charged $1.00 per day last year with free ride to the trail.

There are a few parking places at the trail head near the side trail on the Bray or Sturdevant Road. The side trail leads 3/10th of a mile Northerly to the AT from there. This is about 2 miles west of Monson stating on the Pleasant St / Main St intersection. You can also inquire at Tim's general Store in Monson.

There is also parking on Rt 15 where the AT crosses the road 4 miles north of Monson. This is the beginning of the 100 mile wilderness.

Shaw's. Ask for Dawn. Great person. Own's Shaw's. I'd take a bullet for her (in a non-vital organ). And the car will be safe there. Great people.:sun:sun:sun

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will call Shaw's and see if they can help. That way it is just not parked on the road by the trail. Thanks for all your help.
