This video montage of photos from the JMT is worth watching. Bruce Cockburn provides the soundtrack.

Nice video!

When are you hiking the JMT this summer?

Start date is dependent on obtaining a walk up permit. I'm hoping we can start from Tuloumne Meadows on or around July 25. Our plans have changed somewhat, so we're not going all the way. We'll probably exit at Independence or Bishop. We'll see..

I'm still editing my video from last summer, but if you're dying to see JMT footage, I have 4.5 hours of raw footage (everything that was on the 5 tapes I filled up) from last summer's hike with my kids.

Skip to Tape 2, clip #41, where the actual hike we did begins up in Tuolumne Meadows. Before that it's only travel from WI to CA, warmup hikes, etc.

Two versions of the clips online - 1.5mbit for most broadband connections, and 3.5mbit HD for those with good connection and big screens on faster computers (video requires MS Silverlight 2.0 plugin)

We're going to edit this down to about an hour in the coming months, because my kids want to show this to their friends before school ends and we head back out to try a "yo-yo" hike this summer. They have learned a lot from last year's effort and we should have a good shot at making them the youngst hikers to ever complete a full yo-yo from Yos. Valley to Whitney Portal and back.

Wow, good find Mowgli. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the JMT, it's going to be great! We're doing the Tahoe Rim Trail in early July, really looking forward to that too.
