Just finished a loop in the Grayson Highlands with a scout troop. Water source at Thomas knob ok, the privy has been torn apart, though. It looks as if they are rebuilding it, but I wasnt aware of that. Wise shelter in good shape, water at Wilson Creek fine, but I did not see the source at the shelter itself. Trail from Thomas Knob thru scales and to the pine mountain blue blaze was all in fine shape. The pine mountain trail was also in great shape. As always, the ponies were around as well as deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, a snake in the water at the creek. We met a ridge runner at Thos knob., nice guy. We were careful to enforce the LNT principle with our scouts. I have been on the other side of that fence, and kept us camping away from the shelters and no campfires.
