Baxter opening late

Article in Bangor Daily News today. Delays in opening. Perimeter road sections washed out, still under frost, or still too soft to drive on. All trails to top of Katahdin closed. "Trails through what is knows as the tabletop are still snow covered". Campgrounds typically open by 5/15, most won't be open until 5/19, Roaring Brook until 5/23. Due to heavy snows , Chimney Pond campground likely closed until 6/1. Interested parties invited to call Baxter headquarters at 207-723-5140 for updates.
