Anyone know when Greylock is relatively snow free, at least so that it is hikable to the summit and down the hopper w/o snowshoes? Would it be hikable in early April?

Last year it was the end of April before the trails were snowfree. Early April the snow was still 2-3 feet deep in the Berkshires last year. This year has been a very low snow year, however, so I'd guess that the trails will be clear somewhat sooner, depending... Watch out for those end of snow-season conditions, though. You'll find yourself alternating between postholing in 2 feet of wet snow, slogging through mud, or wading through streams flowing down the trail itself.

Watch the weather. It's not unusual to get a heavy snowstorm around the first of April that dumps a foot or two. (Remember the April Fools Blizzard about 10 years ago now?). However, it also melts fast.
