I want to thank all those who gave me valuable input on lightening my pack load. I listened to everything and considered all suggestions. I did some real hard thinking about what kind of hiker I am and what is realistic for me and what makes me happy. Was tempted to buy a hammock or a tarp tent with a floor and ended up deciding that my spitfire and "security blanket" tarp are worth it. I did purchase a lighter better bag at 1 lb 5 oz compared to 2lb 11 oz. Bottom line is I am lighter. Base , if I leave the canister at home is 17 lbs 5 oz and if I take it 19 lbs 5 oz. I have weighed my food and water and my total max weight will be 28 lbs with the canister and 26 without it.:banana:banana
I thank you again for the input. What a valuable resourse.

Okay...I gave into temptation and just ordered a Contrail tarp tent with screen and floor weighing in at 1lb 8oz. Couldn't resist it! Just shaved 2 lbs 5 oz off my already low weight of 28. So now I am at (with bear canister) 25 lbs 11oz:banana:banana:bananaThis is including food and water

Good work. I guarantee you will both add some things and subtract some along the journey..........which is not good nor bad, just a thing, part of the experience. The problem comes from those who think their opinion is The Word. HYOH and find what works for you.
