There are those random times I do actual trail cooking

Chicken Soup & Dumplings

In a sandwich bag put:
1 cup biscuit mix
1 Tbsp dry milk
1 tsp dried chives
1 tsp dried parsley

Mark on bag "Add 1/3 cup water".

In a sandwich bag put:
1/4 cup diced dried vegetable mix
1 Tbsp diced dried onion flakes
1 Tbsp diced cubed dried potatoes

In a small bag put:
4 tsp low sodium chicken bouillon
½ tsp dried parsley
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp diced dried garlic
1/4 tsp black pepper
Salt to taste

Also take a 7 ounce pouch of chicken.

Cover the vegetables with cold water and let soak for 10-15 minutes.
Add 4 cups water, both the broth and vegetable bags and the chicken with any broth to your pan. Bring to a boil, lower the heat a bit on your stove and keep simmering at a low boil. Taste the broth and salt to taste.

Meanwhile mix up the biscuit mix in its bag. Add the water, push out any air, seal the bag and knead till mixed.

Snip a corner on the bag and start squeezing out dumplings. Let them simmer on the soup, with lid on for 5 minutes or till the dumplings are steamed and done.

Serves 2-3.

Hope you enjoy it. If you would like to see the video that goes with it, it is on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ObgTo7PDxs We have it up on both high quality and standard. HQ is of course better.

Hmmm, my sins come back to haunt me. Sarbar, I believe I'll give your recipe a shot. Mine didn't work out too well, and it looks like your method just might work with an alky stove.

Thanks for the video; great job.

Two Speed, you could always cut the recipe in half as well. It makes a ton.

One way to make it a little easier to prepare is to use flour tortillias for the dumplings. They are already cooked, so you can just tear one or 2 into smallish pieces and drop them in. You don't have to simmer as long and the tortillia pieces are pretty good as a dumpling substitute.
