has this been out for awhile and been alluding me?

looks pretty good! especially the price (under $20), weight (under 2oz), and fuss factor (no pumping, no contamination worries).

is there a reason i haven't heard of this before?

hikingPA,
I have recently discovered the AquaMira Frontier Pro filter too. When I first saw them on the work bench next to the Evernew Hydration Hose kit, I KNEW it would be a prefect match. A customer had previously emailed me with a photo of how he took the AGG water bag and hooked the filter up to it with some of what looked like IV line to make a light weight gravity filter. (Right after he sent the picture of his filter, my computer ate the hard drive and I have no record of his email and can't remember his name. If you are out there, whoever you are, email me and I'll send you one of the filter setups as thanks for planting the idea!).

The Evernew hose kit is what makes this work so well. The Evernew bite valve pulls off of the hose and the on/off slide valve then fits perfectly into the Frontier Pro. I can leave a gallon of water hanging from a limb in camp and turn on filtered water whenever I want. very cool.

You can take any water bag and put a hole in the bottom and heat seal the silnylon edges. Then screw the FP prefilter inside the bag into the FP filter on the outside.

Then pull the Bite Valve off the FP filter and push the valve end of the Evernew hydration tube into the filter and then attach to your water bladder or bottle. The hose stays with the Evernew bladder in your pack, put the bite valve back on and use it for your hydration system while hiking.

the filter is good for up to 50 gallons and is replaceable for about $20.

Weight of the bag and filter weigh about 2.8 oz and with the hose totals 4.2 oz.
