I thought this would good place to start...anybody have idea of small camera case that straps on pack strap? I have small digital Olympus and Deuter pack.
I've got a little case that clips onto the waistbelt of my pack.
It's sort of like this:

It's supposed to have a waterproof zipper, but if it's truly chucking down rain, I put the camera inside the pack.

Granite Gear makes a pretty nifty little camera case that goes on your waist belt.

It would be much more gay if it came in some colors other than black, don't you think?

Don't pay him any attention Pete. He's a TROLL and a piss poor one at that. He's 98% BS and 2% pure SH&T and does most of his hiking on the keyboard. His sense of humor is all in his trigger finger.

i bought this one. works well even takes pictures underwater. im going to carry it hocked to my packstrap. but then mine isnt the best camera.http://www.amazon.com/Nereus-Underwater-Housing-Canon-PowerShot/dp/B000VS2J1Y/ref=pd_bbs_9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1212541456&sr=8-9
I walked into a Bass Pro Shop today and they had a rack (in the door way) of camera cases... on the same rack as their misc cell phone cases... Mountainsmith had several different types on the rack, different sizes w/in the types.
Most had neck straps (to toss) Some mounted vertically, and some horizontally. I was surprised at all the varieties. But then, I don't get out much!:D

I got a lowepro and it worked great. Their site is www.lowepro.com (http://www.lowepro.com) It never fell off and holds up great and it is black. You can see it clipped on me at my gallery that I have under my name on my out west pics. I am the short one with the glasses short hair. It goes on my shoulder strap.I have a pretty good sized heavy camera and this carrier has cushion and is pretty water tight. It is a snap so it will work on a belt also.
Sorry, I should have said chest strap. I am the one with the head bandana. Not really relevent, but this camera case has held up and it was maybe 12 dollars.
I have used one of the water resistant Mountainsmiths for a couple of years now. I actually think it's time for a replacement as the Velcro is becoming a bit thready but that thing has held up well. Zipper is a bit hard to pull but I suppose that's what keeps it water resistant and unless it's pouring down rain (I pack it in a ziploc and stuff it back in the case then anyway) I just leave the zipper mostly open. I carry it on the sternum strap.

Skip the camera case.I carried my camera in my pocket and kept a zip-lock freezer bag handy in case of rain.
