I have an old Eureka 2xt tent that I use when the weaher is cold/bad. It needs to have the shock cord replaced in the two poles. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks to make the process easier. It is a pretty straight forward deal, but there are always little tricks. ;)

Thanks!

Buy extra shock cord, it is cheap. Easier to do a second shot if you have it on hand. I think the tension is the trick.

The tent I did this on, popped a taped seam about 30 bag nights later. (Not to rain on your parade, but start looking.)

Thanks for the advice. This is really my back up tent (I have a hammock now) for bad weather, or if my wife goes with me. I have had it for over 5 years, so if it goes, it goes. :)

I just did some repares on 2 poles. Like mudhead said, " you can buy the shock cord," I thread it through each pole section until you come to the other end & put I knot on the end. On the other end tie w/a loss one part knot & check the tention, then tie off.
Good luck.
