I am doing the 100 mile wilderness satrting July 10th, wondering what the temps would be like and what degree sleeping bag to carry. Thanks in advance for the help.

40 degree will be plenty warm for that time period. Temps will likely be at least 70 everyday and doubtful it will get below 55 at night.

You don't need much of a sleeping bag, 40 is plenty. Beware of mosquitos, though.

We should cross somewhere in the Wilderness, I am going up Jun 28 (leaving here then) and Hiking from Caratunk towards Katadin (as per Miss Janet's advise). I am carrying my 20 degree campmor down bag.

As stated, temps should be 75 day time to 55 night time, maybe a littel colder near the water and higher up.

From Mooselauke north, I would carry a 20* bag even in the summer. I about froze my jujubees off in late July north of Flagstaff Lake a few years ago.

We talk for days about average, minimum, and maximum temperatures that time of year. What I'd do, though, is to keep an eye on the long-term weather forecasts. Make the decision which sleeping bag to take the night before, bearing in mind that you will probably spend a couple of nights at elevation, where it will likely be colder than whatever town you're getting a forecast for.

Leaving K on June 10th, carrying a 40degree Montbell down bag, should be plenty fine, and I go by monthly averages to figure it. If it gets cold just throw on an extra shirt and socks, you'll be fine.

The question should also be, are you a cold or warm sleeper?

That's really neat. I'm leaving Baxter June 10th also. I am taking a Spear, Peapod, overquilt and a tarp. Wanna try to hitch a ride up there together?
