Yes, I hiked most of the trail using a Tarptent Squall with a BA air mattress and Nunatak Back Country down Blanket in 05. The Rainbow had not been invented yet..

It worked out great! Just like sleeping at home! Flexible, relatively light and comfortable... I must admit that I had a couple of cold October nights in ME..but otherwise I would highly reccommend this system..

Not a quilt... but an 18 oz, 45 degree down bag last August-September. No problems. I'm planning to use the same rig on the PCT in northern CA in about six weeks. I carry two base layers, one of polypro and one of silk. I use the silk layer for sleeping.

Mountain Hardwear Phantom 45. Spec'd at 16 oz, but measures 18. No biggie. Nice summer-weight bag. Not the roomiest bag I've owned, but you get used to it.
