Alright, so I've decided that I need to downsize my pack.

I'm looking for a light(ish) pack that can hold the following

BV500
Tarptent cloudburst
Marmot helium
CCF sleeping pad
food for 5-7 days
long underwear
warm jacket (either 550 down jacket or fleece)
water (enough for desert hiking)

I've been considering something like the starlite, circuit, maybe catalyst, nimbus ozone, golite pinnacle...

Any thoughts and experiences on these packs with similar setups? Unfortunately gregory and osprey are the only 'light' packs that the outfitters in my area carry.

What's a bv500?

CCF sleeping pads generally go outside the pack. Some ultralight packs are designed to use a folded CCF pad as a framesheet.

I'm carrying this (http://www.rei.com/product/747520)on the JMT with a BV500. It'll be tight, but I'll make it work.

I switched over to a Kelty Agile 4500 a couple of years ago. It holds everything, including a BV 400. I'm sure the BV 500 will fit easily. I place small clothing items into the bottom of the pack and then place the BV 400 so that the clothes take up the air spaces "under" and next to the ends of the BV. Next, I put my Marmot Atom, in a stuff sack, into the pack atop the BV and place my North Face Vario 23 alongside it, being careful to fill up all the smaller air spaces as I pack. If I have my down vest with me, it goes in next, compressed as much as possible. The cook kit goes in the very top before using the drawstring to close the main compartment of the pack. The only thing I place on the outside of the backpack is my Thermarest sleeping pad, held in place under the separately attached upper compartment. In that compartment, I put my food for the day, stove and fuel, spare water bottle and anything else I might need during the day. Four outside mesh pockets hold my main water bottle, water filter, snacks, maps, GPS, and other items to use as I'm hiking. My shirt pockets and cargo pockets hold smaller items like the map I'm using that day, my compass, spare, waterproofed matches and the digital camera.
