I love Snickers too but I found they do tend to get a bit gooey after a few days of heat. The above is touted to not get gooey,
I know a chocolate engineer and here is her assessment: "For a short trip maybe. But a risky proposition. It'll be white and powdery after a while." That's what happens to me with M&M's that are packed in MRE's that have been sitting around outside climate control.
It is pretty good chocolate....a person can make their own though! You just have to have tempered chocolate and dipping wax :)

Maybe you can burn the wax in your alcohol stove. Fuel for the body, fuel for the stove. Win-win
Snickers,my favorite, melted is fine by me. Not the best scenario though.
Trader Joes sells semi-sweet dark chocolate bars that work well for hiking. Won't melt, even in hot weather.
Great info,I did not know semi-sweet was more stable in the heat.

How about carrying several snickers bathed in olive oil. You can pour off the oil as you need in cooking.

In most cases the darker the chocolate the higher the melt point. Hence, milk chocolate starts drooping quickly!

A chocolate bar, high in fat content, can help replenish the fat lost on the trail.. It does not have to be a "backpacking" chocolate bar either. But these chocolate bars are usually expensive.

this subject has come up before, you will find Hershey Kisses were reformulated for MRE to Bagdad. They appear to have a higher melt point now.

Got to go with snickers melted or not "good is good" from the movie Open Range.
I carry the Lindt 85% cacao. About $2 on sale at Target or the super market.

Abuelita chocolate cake (http://www.nestleusa.com/PubOurBrands/BrandDetails.aspx?lbid=DC4A204C-9ED2-4529-860C-C8FC879967D9) packs the best, has more uses than just for eating straight (mix with either water or water and milk powder for the best hot chocolate you ever had), and handles heat.
It's also widely available (at least if there is any even minor latino community in your area) and is cheap.
/me loves it.
