Not right to ticket people for things they have no control over.

Are you going to ticket people for being ugly?

Maybe you should ticket folks for being to stupid to carry earplugs if they are going to be shelter dwellers.

WB'ers for High Council. Plenty of openings. In fact, everyone is invited to participate.

There are many laws governing the Trail as well as general public laws. There are also rules and regulations. But it never stops people from whining about current ones or suggesting new ones.

Well, climate's changing; that may or may not have something to do with what's going on in Northern CA at the moment. It's of interest to me because my intended hike, about five weeks from now, is somewhere under that smoke....

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/US/06/28/wildfires.ap/art.wildfires.ap.jpg

Here's a link to the article (http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/06/28/wildfires.ap/index.html). The smoke is blanketing much of northern CA, and is causing all sorts of havoc -- schools closing, events cancelled, folks with respiratory problems, etc.

Tin Man

If given the power to write tickets in the Smokies I would have to say that when I came across Idiots that I would have to cite them with a ticket.

What is an Idiot you might ask? If you search you will find a story by me that occured many years ago with a couple that lived in Glasgow, KY and I ran into them while backpacking up around Spence Field.

No butt packs, no water, no packs, no food, no flashlight, etc., etc.. They ended up trying to sleep on the trail when the sun went down and they could not see where they were going.

The night before a very cold rain had occured that lasted for hours. If it had been the night before someone could have died.

Oh, if I only had the power to cite an idiot. But then I would have to cite myself as well if I was going to be honest with myself for I have done my share of stupid things as I was leanring about backpacking.
