Do you guys think it would be easy to get a ride from other hikers/tourists from Alum Cave Bluffs Trailhead to Newfound Gap in the Smokies?

My girlfriend and I are looking at starting from Newfound Gap and going to Mt. Leconte and we'd like to leave our at Alum Cave Bluffs trailhead.

Probably easiest just to ask someone at the trailhead for a lift.

wasn't Alum Bluffs parking lot where there was some recent vandalism? Not that lightening strikes twice or anything.

What day is your trip? A weekday might be a little slower in getting a ride. I don't see any problem getting a ride on a weekend.

IIRC the sign at Newfound Gap states hitchhiking is illegal.

i was picked up by a park ranger once so i guess it's not really enforced
