Ahh, my old stomping grounds, JDSP. This is where I taught my kids to backpack.

I think I got caught making whoopie up at this tower one night...:p

I have two sisters who live in Florida. One in Ft. Meyers and one in St. Augustine.
They DO have mountains there. Up here we call them overpasses. :p

Well, take a hike here, its in Florida and when you get there you feel like you have literally been transported to Middle eath, its one of the most beautiful places I have been too in Florida. What made me think of it though was "The tower sits on one of the highest points of peninsular (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peninsula) Florida, estimated to be 295 feet (90 m) above sea level (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level).[ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bok_Tower_Gardens#cite_note-3)", wow, a whole 295 ft. above see level, must make some peoples nose bleed in Florida;). But really, it is a spectacular place!!

When we were hiking through the Big Swamp in the south of FL, there were markers every mile that showed you your elevation. Sometimes we had climbed a whole 3"!!! However, our legs were as tired as if we had climbed 3 miles from sinking in the muck and pulling up and out, sinking in the muck and pulling up and out, sinking...

Ahh, I'm jealous! A buddy just got back from Colorado as well. They spent a week over on the Estes Park side of the RMNP.
I've gotta make a trip out there sometime...

This was on the Columbine Trail. I was up around 7000 feet. That rock is at the top of a very steep incline. It was actually hard to get on that rock.

This one is the trail leading up to that rock. Yes, that is me way up there.

And of course, the rivers were to die for. I loved every minute up there.

I just did a hike in GA with some buddies. One of them had this to say.

The question is now "How can I go hike with my buddies in Georgia"

Those flat trails will never satisfy you again...

I'll never forget when I was on the Chamber Of Commerce in Jackon, Wyoming back in the eighties. Someone came in to the monthly meeting one night holding up the state magazine for Colorado. There was a photograph of the Grand Tetons as Colorado was advertising those were her mountains.

There was big ole stink about that.........

Here in Chattanooga, they used one of my photos of McAfee Knob to promote Chattanooga's outdoor recreation opportunities. :p Cover shot on a brochure.
