Don't even think i wanna go there. Hiking has never "gone bad" for me.
I prefer it in its positive light.

This is just the kind of stuff I like to read when I'm out on a long backpacking trip. Especially the winter epics of the mountain climbers caught up in a bad storm. Thanks for the link.

Tragedy unfolding on K-2. Avalanche kills some climbers, strands others.
Story on hikerhell blog. (http://hikerhell.blogspot.com/2008/08/developing-story-k2-avalanche-kills-and.html)
Too bad, no matter how much prep and safety precaution one takes in some endeavors, such as this, the elements and the great mother rule.
For those of you who like to read high mountain adventure stories, K-2 Triumph and tragedy by Jim Curran (http://www.jimcurran.co.uk/biog.html) describes climbing this mountain and the tragedy that struck half of the people that summited it in 1986.
edit: updated (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080803/wl_nm/pakistan_climbers_dc_7) info on the tragedy.

Thanks for sharing the great resource. The blogger "B-Real" does an outstanding job in compiling incidents from all over the world on a daily basis. It's definitely a blog I would check everyday.

Who would have thought there could be a niche market for hike blogging.

Personally, I think they should have relocated that bear not shot it. I like that blog though it is very good to learn from others mistakes. I'm sure I could put a few things on there too but, do I want to admit to my mistakes:D
