I just finished my five week section from Harper's Ferry to Kent. It was probably the most fun I've had in my whole life! It was awesome! Thanks to everyone on WhiteBlaze for helping me again and again with my gear list. I didn't have to make any major changes although my feet got so much bigger I had to get new shoes after 200 miles.

Now I am off to do climbing for a couple weeks in the Alps and then I'll finish the summer off with the John Muir Trail.

Your feet grew? I heard this only happens to flat-footed people(not sure if true). Is this applicable to you?

Feet growing is common, especially if you use lighterweight shoes. I used mid-weight boots in 99 and grew from 9 to 9.5 In the decade since, I've added over 3000 miles in light boots and very light shoes. I now wear an 11.

I have had flat feet my whole life, and my shoe size (12 4E) didn't change during or after my thruhike.

I will pass on that AFAIK, only Dunham (owned by New Balance) makes trail runners in a size I can wear.

I used to have normal arches. Now they are flatish. I developed Plantar fasciitis a few weeks ago.
