I am wondering if this is Sam Adams. On TJ he suggested he was going to commit suicide several times.

Yeah but we're still not sure if they are one and the same. Anyone know where Sam Adams was from?

There is no indication in TJ of where he was from or if Sam Adams was a trail name or not.

He did mention several hikers he met along the way. He also indicated he would say his final goodbye on a shelter register.

His journal doesn't mention where he was from. It did say that he left a car at Amicola... Sam's last journal entry was 5/31 and he was just about to Daleville so it would have been several weeks (mid June) before he would have gotten to Maryland. I'm assuming that this suicide was recent, so I doubt it is him.

Anyone hear a resolution? How long could it take to identify a body? Can't seem to find anything about it online and the news website hasn't been updated.

They ID'ed the body and notified family members according to the most recent update on the above link.

Ok, thanks. I guess I meant to say, suprised no other info, details have been given. I'm assuming it's not the Sam Adams guy.

Suicides are usually not covered in too much detail by the media. I was surprised the town's local newspaper didn't have anything.

I think it could be Sam, most likely not though

I live in the area and all the news said was a local hiker was found dead on the trail south of brownsville, that area is about 5 miles south of gapland state park. it's the same area where the blair witch project movie's took place.
