Okay, I don't buy new gear often, so when I do, it's always fun.
Got a MSR Pocket Rocket stove, and, wow, why didn't I switch to cartridges earlier? Been using a Whisperlite for a long time, and I've gotten really good at the priming and pre-heat thing. So wasn't I surprised when I just screwed the Pocket Rocket on the cartridge, lit a match, turned the knob, and shazzam, beautiful blue flame, at a third of the weight!
I'm really looking forward to making oatmeal tomorrow morning.
(am I the only one who uses his camp stove at home sometimes, just for fun?)
And then, I decided to join the trail runner revolution, got a pair of Salomon XT Wings. Super comfy, but I'll reserve judgment until I get out on the trail.
Only drawback of the trail runners, IMHO, is they don't look as cool and invincible as my bada$$ full leather boots. Then again, they weigh half as much. And, well, looks don't count for a whole lot on the trail, do they? :)
Hooray for new gear!
