I will be out for 5 or 6 days in a hammock. Will I need to bring my bug net?

You might get some leftover mosquitoes. Shouldn't be a problem, I'd think. Great time to go.

That late in the year nothing will be needed. I enjoy hiking that time of year as the weather can be real comfortable.

Bugs? Heck, I hiked in SW VA Oct. 23-25 and had snow (http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?trailname=3877). Made for some nice photos with sugar-like dusting on still-colorful maple & oak leaves. (http://whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=13642&catid=member&imageuser=5065)

Last Oct., I was at Graysons. I had no problems with flies. About a month or so ago, Elk Gardens to Graysons were infested with swarms of flies.

Once then first cold air blows in, flies usually retreat.
