You do know that this pill only works if you're just few inches tall and have a tail right?

If you RTFA, you would also see that it may eventually be marketed for humans, too. :)

Everyone is looking for the quick fix...our bodies weren't meant to be plopped on the sofa all day. Like any other pills....what will the side effects be???? Ever listen/read the side effect lists for some of that crap....a pill to relieve arthritis pain, but hey it cold kill you with cancer! No thanks.

And to think I always figured we had to take part in physical activity to stay healthy

I normally scoff when I hear about some new "magical pill". On the other hand, science is making major advancements, so there maybe something to this story, not saying it's a magical pill today, but it may be the start of something.

One day we'll be able to take a pill which will provide us with all our nutritional needs for that day, that'd be great for military applications. Also one day amputated limbs or defective organs will not be a concern, imagine that.

I can't find my book right now, somewhere around here, but in it it quotes a physicist that ridicules the idea of "airships", his remarks are only a couple years before the Wright Brothers' first flight. History is littered with stories like this.

I'm looking forward to the pills.

Ha, while I appreciate the effort and what they're trying to accomplish...this would only give the couch potatoes more of an excuse to watch even more Judge Judy

But if they are stuck on their couches, then they aren't slowing everyone else down (Biking to work through large tourists who manage to fill the 12 foot wide path is a pain)

Soon enough, it'll only take one person to fill the 12 foot wide path, the way things are going. But you've got a point!

Good read, if a bit scary. :)

It's funny how science fiction and science fact seem to become one over time. The way we are evolving, moving away from our natural way of life with all our technological innovations. I wouldn't be surprised if sometime in the future our bodies look like the "aliens" in popular culture.

A bit more intense than my Judge Judy prediction, but scary as hell nonetheless.:-?:)

My thoughts exactly. More people popping pills to be "healthy" more room for us to play.

Print was so tiny I could not read the article.

In most browsers, you can make the print larger by pressing the "CTRL" and "+" keys together.

You can also go to VIEW and TEXT SIZE options as well to accomplish the same tasks.

Works for Firefox and Internet Explorer. Similar steps probably work for Safari, Mozilla and others.

Also means less money for the national parks. Someone's gotta visit them, and as much as I dislike the tourons in the parking lots at places like Yosemite, they are paying for a lot of upkeep in the park (probably even more than the upkeep that they cause a need for) Although, the fact that the JMT is paved down in the valley is a bit sad :(

Beer cures everything. A natural blood thinner, stress-reducing, carbohydrate loading, improves kidney function, hydrates better than they let on, fat-free. The perfect twelve ounce pill. Along with moderate exercise, no side effects when taken wisely. Probably cures cancer, too, but this hasn't been proven.

ALCAR is short for Acetyl-l-Carnitine which is a amino acid. Unless their talking about something else. I've taken Acetyl-L-Carnitine for many years and can tell you it is no replacement for exercise.

If man is still alive, If woman can survive, They may find....................In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today

Yeah...and the comment that it works on aerobic conditioning, not strength. Strength conditioning impacts balance, posture and body alignment, and...ummm...'strength' So if this pill was projected to humans it might provide the stanima to get from point A to point B faster but it won't help with the backpack or staying upright.:D

Excerpt:
"The study, released this week in the journal Obesity, suggests that by the year 2030, nearly every American will be overweight or obese.

Currently, figures from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put the prevalence of obesity in adults at about 66 percent. But lead study author Dr. Youfa Wang of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore says that if current overweight and obesity trends continue, 86 percent of Americans could be overweight or obese by the year 2030.

Even more troubling, the authors note, "By 2048, all American adults would become overweight or obese.""
