I'm interested in starting a hike from Monson and ending in Baxter (flying into Bangor). Can some one give me suggestions on how to get a ride to Monson and how to get out of Baxter and back to the airport in Bangor?
Thanks!
Hitch out of the park to Millinocket. From Millinocket cab to Medway then bus to Bangor..probably only one a day.

Should I take a cab from Bangor to Monson or is there a better way to get to the starting point?

Shaw's Boarding House in Monson does shuttles. call for rates 207-997-3597

We are planning a trip in September. We booked flights on Katahdin Air right near Baxter. The fly you down to Monson and land in a lake. You need at least 2 people and it cost around $100 per person. They will then reposition your car (take 2 sets of keys) near Abol on the day you are scheduled to come of the woods.

Isn't there a hostel in Millinocket that also provides shuttles? They were there last year picking up hikers.

Gas prices have made it so they can;t do those anymore, at least not for free.
Shaw's will shuttle you. On the summit of Katahdin ask if anyone is heading towards Millinockett who will give you a ride. Everyone leaving the park HAS to go through that town.
