I'll be hiking for 7 days thru 100 mi wilderness in Maine - first time hike that long. Not sure how many GigaPower propane tanks to take. I guess I'll be heating up 1/2 quart of water once a day...
One 4 oz. canister will do, if you're careful. 1/2 quart of water once a day is no biggie. I figure 1 cup of water boiled = 0.1 oz. of canister fuel. By that measure you'd need 0.1 times 14 = 1.4 oz. of fuel. Again, this is based on careful, conservative usage (eg., a wind screen of some sort, for starters.)

Yeah, i was going to say you should take one of the bigger canisters if you are not used to conserving every bit with a windscreen, cooking skills meant to conserve, maybe use a fire once in a while if one is available, etc.
I would probably do it with one of the smaller ones but I like fires once in a while. Of course the wilderness can be a wet place so keep your fire building skills sharp!
Windscreen is a must!
