New England is experiencing the worst flooding since 1930. The thru-hikers coming through here look like sponges :D No end in sight for 7 days....

And with everything so wet and muddy, its making for treacherous hiking. Two rescues (http://morningsentinel.mainetoday.com/news/local/5293031.html) on the AT recently, one was on Little Bigelow and another at an undisclosed location, and also another on Bald Mt, another mountain not far from Saddleback.
Extra precaution is needed. Rescue personnel having a rough time getting people out under such wet and slippery conditions.

Look at the Midwest status on the first map:

I'm in southern Colorado, and we've had about 10x the usual amount of rain in the past 3 weeks, too.

Also, read a trip report yesterday on another site. Seems hip waders are warranted for some distance in areas between West Carry Pond and Pierce Pond. That area has been submerged since June. Some areas of the trail are canoeable so throw out the sticks and grab a paddle.

Wet indeed.

Mommy.

Summer is over anyway. Break out the snow shovel.

Hey, could you pipe some of that water down this way, please! Just some cloud cover would help--it's 96 out there right now.

HA!

Thanks for pointing that out. Sorry (Just call me misinformation form now on):)

It is really really wet here though. Flood and Flash Flood warnings, very high lakes, rivers, and streams. It's making the trail pretty awful in Northern New England.

The article i posted about wet and slippery conditions is up-to-date though :o
This could turn out to be the wettest summer on record for some here in the northeast.

I am plum sick of all this rain. How do we shut this faucet off? Never seen a summer this bad in New England.

Anyone been hiking recently in Vt, NH, ME on the trail? I'd love to read a first hand account of how bad it really is, not just how bad we all think it must be!

From the news, it seems like Maine has been particularly hard hit. The 100 mile wilderness must be a mess! I wonder how many, or if anyone, will make the soggy slog from the AT to Whitehouse Landing for the 1 pound cheeseburgers?
