perhaps this has been addressed but i cant find it.
what about using the coleman stainless steel lantern globe for a windscreen? it will sit aroudn the entire cannister and stove and to my mind would allow air without letting in wind? am i wrong? is there still a cannister overheating issue? also, throw a couple stakes on top of it and it makes a good woodstove.

Stainless steel globe?? Not sure if I've ever heard of that before. I searched Coleman's site, but couldn't find one. Could you provide a link to what you're talking about?

by the way, they suck when used as intended, as a globe.

thats it. and you can look at the pics there to see what a steel globe looks like. i didnt cut the windows in my globe and it worked fine. so....does anyone have experience using it as a windscreen?

It serves me well as a windscreen for my Ring Of Fire stove. And it works very well as a wood burning stove. Dual pourpose. Little Johnny Quest has used his a a wood burner. Sgt Rock made a wood burner out of a globe. He took it on the AT early this year. Maybe he'll chime in here and let us know how it worked out. Skidsteer found a source of one with the Brand name--Duh I forgot:-?

Brunton Lucy Lantern, snow peak and the older Primus micro lanterns use mesh "globes" I can't seem to recall problems with wind when I used the primus.

Nice find!!!!!

Same company has a list of companies (http://www.centurycamping.com/purchasing/)that carry their products.

It's not the brand name that Skids came up with. It was something like Northwest. I'll go look it up in the Globe Stove thread

Northwest Territory, I believe.

Windscreen. 2' long piece of tinfoil, double layered, edges and center taped with aluminum tape. Made a small one for around the base of the alky stove, and a larger one that goes more around the pot, together they weigh about 2 oz and work very well. That's just me tho
