A lot of posters refer to various trails by abbreviations. Some are well known, like AT or PCT, but others less so. I found this list (http://www.aldha.org/trails.htm) and thought I'd post it here, for the edification of others like myself who often find the acronyms and abbreviations puzzling. Obviously not all inclusive, but a good start. (It's in a more tabular format at the source.)

AT - Appalachian Trail
FT - Florida Trail
BMT - Benton MacKaye Trail
JMT - John Muir Trail

there are hundreds that arent on that list, and many trails have the same abbreviation...and most people will disagree with some of those abbreviations. ive always heard of the colorado trail as CT, not COL..

I like that it identifies the "JMT" as the one in California, as there is a JMT in Tennessee too.

No showing for the Ice Age Trail, North Country Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, etc, etc, and those are all National Scenic Trails alongside the AT.

Oops, the PCT is listed, my bad!
