it is amazing what kids love if you take the time to spend with them. although my long two week trips have been put on hold it is only for a little while until my kids are a little bigger. in the meantime i have a great wife who understands my need to break out often enough for 4-7 days...and we do a lot as a family.
of course, everyone has to have hiking poles, headlamps, etc. one each in pink and green.

yes - art loeb is one of my favorites. i think i have done it five times or so...shining rock is really one of the 'special' places in nc. i have pretty much hiked all the trails there. really awesome place and in winter it is amazing.
