That these pictures were taken just a few hundred feet off the Appalachian Trail?

These were taken by my friend last winter.

Care to guess where?

The last time I went the water layer was frozen over and you could walk out on to the ice.

My guess is Clingman's Dome. I know for a fact that there's a cave there...

thanks but it was easy.it's my teenage hang out stomping grounds.on the right side there is a passage you can walk/crawl/shimmy thru.we used to do it with lighters but with a headlamp would be easier.gets a little close in there if you are tall.check it out next time you're there.

not too deep.it looks better in the winter or when it has rained.not so beautiful when you see all the empty cans/ bottles, or at least when i was there last.

wish it were in my back yard! LOL ... as a teenager in Tennessee I explored many caves ... back in the spelunking days ... full of mud, bats and lots of water. One we went in was a tiny hole that dropped straight down about 75 feet, then you crawled through mud for a long time with headlamps ... but then it opened up into a HUGE nearly lake to me ... but if you turn the lights off ... talk about total darkness ... gosh that was FUN!!! Thanks for these pics .. they are gorgeous!!!!!!!!

So, it's a mine not a cave? Tricky, tricky! BIG difference.

No this is also Bradley Mine.

I've been to the very back of Bradley mine but didn't see any passage ways one could crawl through.

The day those photos were taken we also explored Pine Swamp Mine. Another cool one, but this one is simply amazing in the winter time.
