Turns out the spot company wouldn't give search and rescue the tracking info
for 2 1/2 hours since hiker had id and password, and spot co didn't want to

So, on a technical level the device worked fine.
However, 2.5 hrs before the data could be release for SAR people?
Again, I question how effective this device is in the real world.
Looking at the tread above, from a technical standpoint
SPOT works fine if
1) ..well, it works fine under optimal test settings...not so well if you
use it in real world settings. ;)
The thread also mention another version of SPOT. Hopefully this one
will be a bit more user friendly...and have a staff a bit more informed
to support it with appropriate policies in place as well.
