Why ...is it a lost art?
3-5-7 day.. no cover.. 32oz water to start ,food in pocket and whatever you can fit to enjoy?

The boy scouts won't let you do it. Be prepared. (Although, we did go on a few trips in the boy scouts that turned into survival episodes.)

We did it HS,and even the girls loved it....good fun.:)

WE also did many 3-5 day total survival with 1/2 gal water and no more than that for the trip.
The girls would come to camp with food from smart setup traps.:;)

Ah,..... if you are an idiot & an adult. The BS will let you do it...cus they are lookin to teach you something. Humility. Yes I have always stepped up to that challange. I really am talking about myself, the kids love it as I always surprise them. You don't even have to go that far just show up with a 10-15 pound pack and watch the stares. Avoid my mistakes - plenty of spf 20+ and a seperate DEEP WOODS OFF. + A MINI CABANA FOR MOSI AS THE NOISE CAN KEEP YOU UP- the head net did not work too well.

OOH dear, Slow, are you one of the few human beings that laugh at mosquitos? I have been bitten to near death given a pint of blood and sat next to folk who laugh at my demise and the little suckers fly around them to get to me.,....... I have spent time there.... not just at DW.

I am a big fan of pocket hikin' It is a lost art. Gentlemen in England and folks in other countrys (Germany & Italy) still take long country walks with nothing more than a bottle of water & a sandwich with a hat & slicker.
