Looks like the Rocky Dry ridges claim yet another hiker. I know I am north of here and it was brutal heat yesterday.

Any thru-hikers that haved passed through that area will tell you the stretch Outerbridge to Leroy Smith Shelters is one of, if not the worst stretch for water on the AT. None on trail unless you care to camel-up from Mettalica spring in the super fund site. I wonder if that hiker had enough water to begin with. I

Hey Bag, how tricks? ;-)

I make a few trips a year to that section as it is one of my favorites on the whole AT but have never been able to find Metallica Spring. I find the old rusted shot up sign but can never locate the spring. Where exactly is it located?

Also, it's my understanding the EPA has the spring rated O.K. but still recommend not drinking from it. Is this correct? Any word on the drinkability of the water would be appreciated.

Hope you had a great season!
