No, you'll be fine. Expect it to be cold in the evenings and early mornings, but if you start that far south, you'll little snow.

It wouldn't be too early, Be ready for 20 degree nights, and you still could have some slop on the trail if the snow melts late, Probably do some trashbag sledding on the top of a few peaks:D Thats fun.

But expect 50 degree days and 20 nights ( withing 10 degrees either direction i'm sure) But otherwise the hiking should be great that time of year.

Meant to say you'll SEE little snow. We get the occasional freak snowstorm here in Hanover as late as mid April, but in Massachusetts you shouldn't have much of a problem. Have a great trip.

The ground may be soggy. Plenty of mud. Maybe drifts of wet, heavy snow here and there, where there's deep shade.

Yeah I know in Vermont they don't like hikers on the trail much before June. But you are starting in MA, so should be fine, but muddy and cold and isolated. At least you will be bug free, that's a HUGE plus.

Expect some flooded trail sections. I know my section is underwater until almost the start of May and we have to do a road detour. The great Swamp by the AT train stop floods every spring.
