I'm kinda new here and hope I haven't over stepped the boundries, but I heard this song the other day and thought about how appropriate it was for anyone undertaking a journey such as this. Perhaps one day my chance will come.

It's by Dan Fogelberg, and it's called "Along the Road", from his 1979 Phoenix album, you could subsitute "Trail" for "Road" if you wish.

So here's wishing all the 2004 hikers a great journey. If you can find the song it's much better hearing him sing it.

Along The Road
By Dan Fogelberg

Joy at the start
Fear in the journey
Joy in the coming home
A part of the heart gets lost in the learning
Somewhere along the road
Along the road your path may wander
A pilgrim's faith may fail
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Darkness obscures the trail

Cursing the quest
Courting disaster
Measureless nights forbode
Moments of rest
Glimpses of laughter
Are treasured along the road
Along the road your steps may stumble
Your thoughts may start to stray
But through it all a heart held humble
Levels and lights your way

Joy at the start
Fear in the journey
Joy in the coming home
A part of the heart gets lost in the learning
Somewhere along the road
Somewhere along the road
Somewhere along the road

As long as you're respectful of other's opinions and have moderately good taste, there's little chance of overstepping a "boundary". Thanks for posting, Bung.

Bung, an awesome song! Do you mind cross-posting it to the Songs of the AT thread? (link below) If you don't want to, I will, but didn't want to do so without asking.

THANKS!

RM, it's done. Good idea, I didn't see that other thread.
