Shining Rock/Cold Mountain 9/28-9/30

I am planning a relaxing three day weekend hike from Ivestor Gap to stay at Cold Mountain on 9/28, coming back to Shining Rock for the evening of 9/29 and back out to Ivestor on the 30th. Any of you WB'ers out there are welcome to drop in if you are in the neighborhood! Bring your own cigars!

I'm interested in the hike. I've been to that area many times. I'm 54 and in good shape. I go solo alot of the time but my wife would like to see go with group or individual.

I may decide to stay at Shining Rock the first night so I can have a fairly liesurely hike to Cold Mountain on Monday, then downhill (mostly) back to Ivestor Gap on Tuesday. I don't know yet if any of my usual compatriots will be joining me, but feel free to come.

I'd go if I wasn't section hiking 3 days in VA next week. I know my wife won't let me out with a backpack 2 weeks in a row.
