I'm thinking about checking out Damascus this weekend with some friends and hope to find a nice, accessible place to set up camp. Any suggestions on some sites ?? Oh, and we need them to be dog friendly!

Thanks!!

Head up 58 and turn left at the first forest service dirt road. Plenty of free spots back there. We've stayed there several times. It's nice, secluded, quiet, and best of all free.

Excellent place. Have done the same thing myself. Beartree, just past that Forest Service road is a great campground during season. Not sure if they are still in season.

I used Bear Tree over the summer night before and night after my 5 day trip. Clean, quiet, hot showers. Not a quick walk to Damascus, but a very nice campground.

Any thoughts about the Jacobs Creek or Little Oak USFS campgrounds?

Creeper Trail riders and Day hikers park here quite often.
