My name is Adam, or trail name U-Turn. I'm 25 and plan on hiking the AT next year. I figure I would say hello, good planning and good luck to all. Here is a poem for you all my friend sent me last week, because it sure as hell rings true for all of us who are crazy to do this.

Dick Bass, the first to bag the seven summits, his favorite poem is also one
of mine, Kiplings "The men that don't fit in"

There's a race of men that don't fit in, a race that can't stay still
So they break the hearts of kith and kin and they roam the world at will
They range the field and they rove the flood and they climb the mountains
crest
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood and they don't know how to rest.

I have no clue to be honest. I just copy and pasted the poem straight from my email.

What exactly is a BD? I will kick myself later when I find out I know it already.

She's my 12-year-old White German Shepard named Winter. She did the AT with me in 2000.

Still off topic...Winter is another female that is smarter than me and tells me what to do. She's also a great kisser.:D
